One of the key skills of a great project manager is being able to lead with confidence. Managing a project can be a complicated juggling act, not to mention learning to work with diverse groups of stakeholders. People will look to you to confirm that everything is running smoothly and that any problems can be […]
About Elise Stevens
I work with women in project management roles to reinforce within themselves their true value to their team, company and industry. I provide a channel for women’s voices to be heard, supported and embraced in project management. It’s time for women to dream big in the industry, and to know that they can achieve their career goals.
While women have been recognised as equals throughout various industries in recent years, the number of women in the project management field has barely risen. There is a reason for this.
I work with incredible women who have extensive knowledge, skills and passion for their career, but unfortunately the high pressure and status quo within the workplace has left them feeling emotionally exhausted; they have lost confidence in their own hard-earned skills, and are considering leaving their roles.
For over two decades, I have worked closely with project managers to positively impact and innovate effective management processes. I have collaborated with a range of organisations including Queensland Urban Utilities, Ipswich City Council, Coca-Cola Amatil, Hutchinson Telecoms and Ansett Australia.
I am here to re-ignite the passion and satisfaction that you once had for your career; and to re-connect your team members for true confidence in the workplace. Too often we let ourselves believe other people’s narratives about our own skills and abilities. My goal is to remind you of how valuable you truly are, and to give you a clearer understanding of your career goals so that you ooze confidence within your project management role and team – every single day.

Podcast: Paul Pelletier – Women and Disrespect in the Workplace Disrespect in the workplace is easy to spot. It can start as snide comments, gossip or someone being excluded but can escalate into bullying and harassment. Victims, most often women, can be too intimidated to speak up and bystanders often think it’s none of their […]
“If a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade.” I love this quote by Tom Peters. It is a great reminder to be aware of our actions when opportunities do come knocking in our lives. We are creatures of habit and often find comfort in keeping things exactly as they are. This helps us […]
Loving and understanding yourself is the foundation of being a confident and happy person. Learning to love yourself exactly the way you are is so important. You are probably thinking: what has this got to do with being a great project manager? The answer: once you truly understand who you are; the more confident you are […]
My passion is to make a difference for women working in the field of project management, as we work together to improve the gender balance within the profession. Earlier in 2018, I started an initiative to celebrate women in the project management industry. The purpose of the initiative was to raise awareness of women in […]
Podcast: Hussain Bandukwala – Yes, you can set up a PMO in 100 days The success or failure of a newly elected head of state is often measured by how much they achieve in their first 100 days. Hussain Bandukwala thinks PMOs should be measured in the same way. Hussain is the founder of Parwaaz […]
Podcast: Naomi Caietti – Getting unstuck and jumpstarting your career We all know them: the people who wind up in leadership roles through luck or timing or rising through the ranks, but have limited leadership competencies. But leadership is not just a role or title, it’s a choice. In her latest book, project management consultant […]
Asya Watkins – Connecting and supporting women For 20 years Asya Watkins has worked for some of the biggest healthcare companies in the US, sometimes as the only woman in a room full of dozens of men and more often than not as the only woman of colour. It hasn’t always been easy to gain […]
Podcast: Sue Bivins – Changing hearts and minds Sue Bivins landed her first management position in the 1970s when women simply weren’t employed in leadership roles. When one employee refused to acknowledge her as his manager, and then she was laughed at by an executive, she learned one of the most valuable lessons of her […]
