What is your project management super power?

I’m trying to bridge the gaps between more traditional and agile approaches for everyone who feels caught within.

How can gender diversity be improved in the project management profession?

It feels to me like we’re still at the beginning. More inclusive language and less bias towards women would help! Also, raising confidence of women in the profession that they’re bound to be great and very effective project managers.

As the profession evolves, what skills do you think will be key for future success?

Being able to choose tools and methods from the entire toolkit available, plus tailoring them to specific project situations. Also: soft skills, customer centricity.

How do you recover from difficult situations?

It depends. The last time I had one (not so long ago), I went on a long walk. That helped immensely. And I talked to people to get it off my chest, but also to hear where I might have done things differently.

What are your tips and techniques for conflict resolution?

Empathy and understanding the other person, no matter where they’re coming from. A book I really thought was helpful with this is “How to make friends and influence people”, quite awful title and being from the 30s also not too diverse, but nevertheless with some ideas that must have been revolutionary at the time and are still thought-provoking today.

Which 3 words best describe why you enjoy being a project manager?

As a project manager, you can be

  • People-oriented
  • Problem-solving
  • Innovative
