Bio:

It is so great to see this supportive community of women in project management exists! I started my career as an Analytic Translator, working with different government agencies. I then shifted my career into a video games studio where I translated in-game and marketing content as well as managed several projects. Years later I am now working as a Program Manager at a Data Privacy company and am running Career Latinas, where I am Providing coaching service to Latina business owners and career minded women!

What is your project management super power?

Time management! I purposely avoid multitasking, as I believe it causes more mistakes than has benefits. Time management plays a key role in my ability to get any number of items checked off in my daily to do list!

How can gender diversity be improved in the project management profession?

Ensuring companies hire leaders in diversity. For smaller businesses studying up on best hiring practices to ensure you have diverse faces in your meeting rooms, or at least are providing a product created for a multicultural and multi-gender audience will guarantee higher quality and better ROI.

As the profession evolves, what skills do you think will be key for future success?

The ability to effectively communicate through text and video calls. As industries become more open to remote work, it is essential to continuously work on our communication skills.

How do you recover from difficult situations?

I remind myself not to take things personally!

What are your tips and techniques for conflict resolution?

With everything we have learned about EQ over the years, I advise people to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. There could be hundreds of varying reasons why someone is reacting to a conflict the way they are. Set aside your emotions for a moment and empathize with the people involved.

Which 3 words best describe why you enjoy being a project manager?

Ever-evolving, fun, community.
