I have a bachelor in Computer Science, I’m a postgraduate in Project Management, and I have CSM and PMP certifications. I work in the biggest IT company from Brazil (government owned), in very challenging projects. Also I’m a volunteer PM in PMI Minas Gerais chapter, and with a team, we create annually a Women Leadership event.

What is your project management super power?

I think it’s my teamwork ability. Even if I need to learn something new, just to help somebody in the team, I do it.

How can gender diversity be improved in the project management profession?

Mainly in STEM, the more diverse the team, more robust are the solutions we create. Innovation craves for repertoire, and diversity helps bring it to the projects.

As the profession evolves, what skills do you think will be key for future success?

Communication is essential. People have the illusion they communicate their ideas clearly, but each person has a unique background, which interferes in their world’s perception. People worry more about saying, than verifying if the other side is understanding, and sometimes, causing conflicts without perceiving or not presenting ideas in the best way possible.

How do you recover from difficult situations?

Breathing, planning, asking for help of colleagues or my team. And, if the damage is done, repairing the most of it as possible.

What are your tips and techniques for conflict resolution?

Listen to all sides separately, trying to figure out the communication gap. Sometimes, I put the parts together and try to mediate the conversation, avoiding find ‘right and wrong.’

Which 3 words best describe why you enjoy being a project manager?

Sinergy, creativity, goal.
