I’ve worked in project management for nearly 20 years now, starting in IT Project Management and moved into the refurbishment & fitout arena in 2000. Projects delivered have been of varying sizes, with all delivered on time, and either on or very close to budget.
Why do you enjoy working in the field of project management?
Each project is different with new challenges.
What are your greatest achievements as a Project Manager?
Delivering great outcomes for clients and one memorable project being delivered with only a single variation.
Why is a career as a Project Manager a great choice for women?
Women can bring a fresh perspective, and often look at solving issues differently.
How can women stand out in the field of Project Management?
Have integrity, stand up for your point of view, and remember you do have something to offer.
What are some of the challenges women face as Project Managers?
Working in a very male oriented industry there is a perception sometimes that women need to prove themselves.
What can we do to help women to be exceptional Project Managers?
Acknowledge that there is no difference between a male or a female when it comes down to it – everyone has different skills and something to contribute regardless of gender.
Any other comments about Women in Project Management?
It’s a great job and more women should consider it as a viable career path.
